Each year the four Rotary Clubs within Amador County pick 12 students entering their Senior year of High School to participate in the prestigious Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) held at Grizzly Creek Ranch near Portola, California.  Kobie and Carisa were the students selected from the twelve to represent the Rotary Club of Ione. RYLA is residential camp held in June each year and attended by the selected students who are about to enter their Senior year of High School.  Its purpose is to nurture the leadership skills of the students as they enter this important stage of their education. Rotary’s hope is that during their Senior year and beyond they will be examples of good citizenship for their peers and embody our motto of “Service above Self”.

Upon returning from Camp RYLA, Kobie and Carisa attended our weekly Rotary meeting to share their inspirational story with the Ione Club.
